The Agona East District Health Directorate, in a bid to promote equitable healthcare access, has partnered with a non-governmental organization to provide free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewals for residents of Agona Kenyankor and fourteen neighboring villages.

The initiative, carried out on April 17, 2025, seeks to eliminate financial barriers that prevent many from accessing essential medical services. By facilitating free NHIS coverage, the program aims to strengthen community health and ensure that no one is left behind in receiving basic healthcare.

The effort is part of a broader strategy by the Ghana Health Service, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, NHIS Ghana, and the World Health Organization Ghana, to improve healthcare coverage and promote universal health access across the country.
