The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, convened a high-level meeting with all 16 Regional Human Resource (HR) Managers to deliberate on key HR priorities aimed at strengthening the health workforce and enhancing service delivery.

The strategic engagement, held at the Service’s headquarters, focused on critical areas including staff wellbeing, digitization of HR processes, standardization of welfare initiatives, and ongoing recruitment challenges.

Joining the meeting was Deputy Director-General, Dr. Caroline Reindorf Amissah, who added her voice to the call for innovation, improved performance, and a transformed HR mindset to drive excellence in service provision.

Prof. Akoriyea emphasized the role of HR as a central pillar in achieving the Service’s mandate and outlined plans to make HR a catalyst for systemic improvement. The dialogue also tackled persistent issues such as resource constraints and bureaucratic delays in securing financial clearance for staff recruitment.

To bolster morale and accountability, the Director-General assured HR managers of his commitment to ongoing support, including periodic visits to regional and district offices to assess progress and reinforce leadership presence.

The meeting marks a renewed commitment to strategic HR development and aligns with the Service’s broader goals of delivering quality healthcare across the country.
