Ghana Health Service Holds 2024 Annual Performance Review Under New Leadership

Accra, Ghana – The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has commenced its 2024 Annual Performance Review Meeting at its national headquarters, marking the first such session under the leadership of Acting Director-General, Professor Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, and his Deputy, Dr. Caroline Reindorf Amissah.
The two-day event brings together key stakeholders to assess progress in health policy implementation, systems strengthening, and service delivery across the country. It also serves as a platform to realign strategies for enhanced healthcare outcomes.
Opening the meeting, Director of Institutional Care Division, Dr. Samuel Boakye Boateng, and Deputy Director-General, Dr. Reindorf Amissah, underscored the importance of collaboration, introspection, and recognizing the value of each member of the health workforce in achieving the service’s mission.
In his keynote address, Prof. Akoriyea shared his vision for a more inclusive and equitable health system. He highlighted five key priorities for his tenure: inclusive decision-making, equitable resource distribution, financial prudence, open and transparent communication, and full disability inclusion across all facilities and interventions.
“Whatever we are doing, we are doing for ourselves. Let’s not leave anyone behind. We are all potential patients,” Prof. Akoriyea told the gathering, reinforcing a collective sense of purpose and unity.
The review meeting aims to enhance strategic planning and drive sustained improvements in the quality and accessibility of healthcare delivery throughout Ghana.
