Ghana Launches 'Ghana Against Drugs (GAD) - Red Means Stop' Campaign to Combat Opioid Abuse

The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment, in collaboration with key stakeholders, officially launched the Ghana Against Drugs (GAD) - Red Means Stop campaign today. This national initiative aims to address the growing opioid abuse crisis in the country, with a special focus on the street drug known as 'Red.'
The campaign’s primary goal is to raise awareness about the dangers of opioid abuse, particularly among the youth, and to mobilize young people in efforts to tackle the increasing problem.
At the event, a wide range of partners, including government agencies such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, the FDA, WHO, YEA, Narcotics Control Commission, Customs Excise and Preventive Service, and Ghana Immigration Service, came together in a unified push against opioid misuse. Media personnel and bloggers also participated in the event to help amplify the campaign’s message.
Through coordinated efforts and policy discussions, the campaign aims to reduce the impact of drug abuse in Ghana and protect future generations from its devastating consequences.
