The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reported that Ghana has recorded 21 new COVID-19 cases across the Greater Accra and Bono Regions. In an interview with Accra-based United Television, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye emphasized that despite a reduction in cases to 18, the threat of COVID-19 persists.

Dr. Aboagye highlighted the importance of vaccination, noting that those who remain unvaccinated are still susceptible to the disease. He mentioned a forthcoming vaccination campaign scheduled for May, June, and July to increase vaccination rates, addressing concerns about the unavailability of vaccines for individuals under 14 years old, who constitute about 25% of the population.

The recent cases were not confined to Accra alone, as some were also reported in the Bono Region. However, there have been no reported cases from the Northern part of Ghana. Dr. Aboagye underscored the need for increased efforts in response to the new cases, expressing concern that there may be more cases within the system.
