GHS Director-General Visits New Times Corporation to Strengthen Health Communication Collaboration

In a strategic effort to enhance collaboration between the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and media organizations, the Director-General of GHS, Professor Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, has paid a working visit to the New Times Corporation (NTC).
The visit aimed to establish a mutually beneficial partnership to facilitate the regular dissemination of health promotion messages through NTC’s media platforms. This initiative forms part of GHS’s broader commitment to educating and informing the public on critical health issues nationwide.
Prof. Kaba Akoriyea highlighted the vital role media institutions play in promoting health education and expressed optimism that the collaboration with NTC would bridge the existing information gap on key health concerns. He noted that such partnerships are essential in improving public health outcomes by ensuring timely, accurate, and accessible health information.
The Director-General was warmly received by the Managing Director of NTC, Mr. Martin Adu-Owusu, along with senior members of the Corporation’s management team, including the Editor. The meeting focused on exploring content collaboration and aligning health communication efforts with national development goals.
Prof. Kaba Akoriyea was accompanied by the Acting Director of the Health Promotion Division, Ms. Mabel Kisiwa Asafo, and the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Mr. Jacob Acquah Andoh.
The visit marks a significant step toward a more integrated approach to health communication in Ghana, leveraging the reach and influence of media to promote healthier lifestyles and well-informed communities.
