The Ghana AIDS Commission has disclosed a concerning statistic regarding HIV prevalence in the Ashanti Region. According to the Commission, 80 percent of HIV cases in the region are due to unprotected sexual activities.

Olivia Graham, the Ashanti Regional Technical Coordinator for the Commission, shared this information during an interview with OTEC News reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng on Sunday.

Ms. Graham highlighted the significant prevalence rate and emphasized the need for residents in the region to adopt safe sex practices to curb the spread of the virus.

This revelation follows a recent report indicating a high HIV prevalence rate in the Ashanti Region, especially in the Asokwa Municipality.

The Ghana AIDS Commission is encouraging individuals to take proactive steps to prevent HIV transmission, such as using condoms and undergoing regular testing.
