Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Hosts Training Workshop Ahead of New Patient Registration Card Rollout

Accra, Ghana – April 2025 – The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has successfully concluded a three-day technical training workshop in preparation for the launch of its new patient registration card system.
The workshop, held in collaboration with Quixmo Services—the operators of the new card system—and hospital management, aimed at equipping staff with the necessary skills for a smooth transition to the upgraded system.
Over the course of the training, 120 staff members from key departments including Information Technology, Biostatistics, Health Information, Audit, and Stores were trained in system deployment, card issuance, basic troubleshooting, inventory management, and reporting. Participants also received practical guidance on the usage and maintenance of the new devices.
According to hospital officials, the new patient card is designed to eliminate manual entry of OPD numbers, reduce registration errors, and significantly cut down patient waiting times. The system will be fully integrated with the Lightwave Health Information Management System (LIHMS), creating a universal link that enhances operational efficiency and data accuracy.
Hospital management says the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to improving healthcare delivery through digital innovation.
The new patient card is expected to go live in the coming weeks, with hospital authorities optimistic about its impact on streamlining services and improving the overall patient experience.
