Korle-Bu Trauma and Orthopedics Department Receive Essential Medical Equipment from DPS Group

DPS Group, known for producing quality pipes and household plastics and distributing pharmaceuticals in Ghana, has made a crucial donation to the Trauma and Orthopedics Department at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. This donation, which includes medical-grade power drills and saws, will significantly boost the department's ability to treat patients with bone fractures and other orthopedic issues.
Mark Fiattor, Health Service Administrator of the Trauma and Orthopedics Department, commenced the event with heartfelt thanks, highlighting the substantial impact of this support.
“We are deeply honored to welcome DPS Group here today for their significant donation of power drills to our department. This act of generosity is immensely appreciated and will undoubtedly enhance our capacity to provide essential care,” he expressed with warmth.
Puneet Gidwani, Representative of the Group and Director of DPS Pipes, explained the heartfelt motivation behind their generous contribution. He shared that a personal encounter with the hospital’s exceptional care inspired their decision to give back. "After experiencing the remarkable dedication and expertise of the medical team, we felt compelled to contribute in a meaningful way," said Mr. Gidwani.
"Recognizing the critical need for advanced medical equipment, we are privileged to provide these medical-grade power drills and saws to support the department’s vital work. This donation reflects our profound appreciation for the hospital and our commitment to enhancing the lives of people in the communities we serve."
Dr. Frederick Kwarteng, Head of the Trauma and Orthopedics Department at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, expressed deep gratitude for the donation, stressing its significant impact. He explained that these essential tools are fundamental to the orthopedic department, enabling life-saving procedures. Without this equipment, many cases would need to be referred to other hospitals, putting numerous lives at risk.
Dr. Kwarteng noted that the addition of these medical-grade power drills will greatly increase their capacity to treat more patients daily, reducing their workload and improving efficiency. He mentioned that just last week, they had to limit surgeries due to a lack of equipment. This timely donation will enable the department to serve the community more effectively and save countless lives.
This contribution aligns with DPS Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility philosophy, demonstrating the company's commitment to community welfare and societal improvement.
Through such donations, DPS Group continues to support the community and uphold its commitment to being a responsible corporate entity.
