Mpox Spreads from Animals to Humans – Public Urged to Report Symptoms Promptly

Health authorities have issued a public alert following reports of Mpox (formerly known as Monkeypox) spreading from animals to humans. The disease, which can be transmitted through close contact with infected animals or humans, poses a growing public health concern.
The Ghana Health Service is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected symptoms to the nearest health facility without delay. Common symptoms of Mpox include fever, rash, swollen lymph nodes, and body aches.
Early detection and prompt medical attention are critical to controlling the spread of the virus and protecting communities.
Health officials are also advising the public to avoid contact with wild animals and to practice good hygiene and safe food handling practices.
