NGO Launches Initiative to Aid Breast Cancer Patients
The Global Outreach Consortium, a non-governmental organization dedicated to providing healthcare support to the underprivileged, has unveiled a new initiative to assist breast cancer patients. Named “Bisayen! [Ask Us! & Touch Us],” this project aims to support individuals dealing with the complexities of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survival by addressing critical needs through educational resources, emotional support, and opportunities for survivor connections.
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women globally and is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in Ghana. Priscilla Vandyck-Sey, the Executive Director of Global Outreach Consortium, highlighted the severe impact of breast cancer on women's health worldwide, noting the high rates of diagnosis and mortality in Ghana.
"We recognize that each breast cancer journey is unique, and we are dedicated to empowering individuals with the knowledge, support, and training needed to navigate this challenging path with resilience and hope," Vandyck-Sey stated.
The two-year project has commenced with the training of facilitators, marking the first step in this comprehensive support program.
