Dr. Da Costa Aboagye, CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), has announced a groundbreaking initiative that will offer Ghanaians free medical checkups at any health facility on their birthdays. This initiative aims to revolutionize healthcare in Ghana by prioritizing preventive care and reducing the prevalence of non-communicable diseases.

During a media interview on Thursday, May 16, Dr. Aboagye revealed that the committee overseeing the implementation of this initiative is in the final stages of stakeholder engagement. He emphasized that the NHIA has streamlined its processes to ensure the timely realization of this goal.

Dr. Aboagye highlighted that this initiative underscores NHIA's commitment to improving access to healthcare services for Ghanaians and promoting proactive health management strategies. By providing free medical checkups on birthdays, NHIA aims to empower individuals to take control of their health and address potential health issues early.

We are offering every Ghanaian the opportunity to visit any health facility on their date of birth or month of birth to check their vitals at least once a month," Dr. Aboagye stated. He expressed optimism about the implementation of this intervention, noting that the committee is nearing the end of stakeholder engagements, and implementation will commence soon.

Dr. Aboagye believes that this initiative will revolutionize Ghana's healthcare architecture, leading to a reduction in diseases and non-communicable diseases.
