Nutrition for the Busy Professional: Eat to Perform

What you eat does more than satisfy hunger. Your diet contributes to your energy, concentration, weight, cardiovascular health and long-term disease risk.
Unfortunately, corporate life can make healthy eating difficult.
Meetings run late. Lunch gets skipped. Fast food becomes convenient. Sugary beverages replace water. Snacks become meals.
Build a healthier plate
Aim for a variety of foods, including vegetables and fruits, whole or minimally processed carbohydrate sources, protein-rich foods and healthy fats.
Simple workplace strategies
Plan ahead: If you know you have a busy day, prepare or identify healthier meal options.
Control portions: Healthy food can still contribute to excess calorie intake when portions are very large.
Watch sugary drinks: They can add substantial amounts of sugar without making you feel full.
Stay hydrated: Water should generally be your main beverage.
Don't make perfection the goal: Consistency is more realistic than trying to eat perfectly every day.
Corporate Health Challenge: Before your next meal, ask: Is this food helping me perform—or simply helping me get through the day?
