The Bono Regional Minister, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, has expressed concern over the increasing prevalence of skin bleaching, drug abuse, and teenage pregnancy among the youth in the region.

Addressing the launch of the 50th anniversary of the Ghana Adventist Choir Union (GACU) of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) in Sunyani, Madam Owusu-Banahene emphasized the serious health risks associated with skin bleaching, particularly for women. She urged churches to raise awareness about these risks and discourage the practice.

Highlighting the detrimental effects of drug abuse and teenage pregnancy on the well-being of young people and communities, Madam Owusu-Banahene called for concerted efforts to provide youth with the necessary support, education, and resources to make informed decisions and avoid engaging in destructive behaviors.

She encouraged young people to focus their energy on positive endeavors such as education, sports, and community service, rather than seeking shortcuts or escaping reality through substance abuse and teenage pregnancy.

Madam Owusu-Banahene’s remarks underscore the importance of addressing these social vices and empowering youth to make positive choices for their futures.
