Regional Workshop Unites Health Leaders to Tackle Infodemics in West Africa

In a significant move to strengthen infodemic management in West Africa, stakeholders from Ghana and Nigeria convened yesterday for a high-level workshop hosted in partnership with Nigeria Health Watch and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The workshop served as a collaborative platform to share critical knowledge, tools, and best practices aimed at combating health misinformation and improving public health communication strategies. A key focus of the session was the integration of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) approaches to enhance the effectiveness of ongoing interventions.
Participants also revisited the operational framework guiding the Health Information Disorder and Infodemic Management Network, reinforcing regional partnerships and coordination efforts.
Notable organizations in attendance included UNICEF Ghana, WHO Nigeria, Fact-Check West Africa, and Ghana Health Nest, underscoring a growing commitment across the sub-region to tackle misinformation and promote evidence-based health communication.
