Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central Commissions $200,000 Community Clinic in Berekuso

In a significant boost to rural healthcare in Ghana, the Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central has inaugurated a $200,000 community clinic in Berekuso, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services for residents of the town and surrounding areas.
The state-of-the-art facility was officially handed over during a colourful commissioning ceremony attended by local leaders, health officials, Rotarians, and international dignitaries. Among the notable guests were Rtn. Albert Bahun Wilson, President of the Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central; District Governor Rtn. Florence Maame Hagan; and Rotary International President-Elect (RIPE) Mario César Martins de Camargo, who served as Special Guest of Honour.
Described by stakeholders as a beacon of hope and a legacy of purposeful partnership, the new clinic is expected to provide vital maternal, child, and emergency health services to Berekuso and neighbouring communities such as Pakro and Dago Pokrom.
Speaking at the event, Rtn. Wilson remarked, “This clinic is more than just a building—it is a symbol of compassion, a promise of dignity, and a foundation for a healthier, stronger community.” He emphasized that the facility represents a long-term commitment to community well-being and empowerment.
District Governor Florence Maame Hagan highlighted the project as a testament to Rotary’s enduring spirit of collaboration and service. “What we see today is the product of strong partnerships between our club, district leadership, and Rotary International. It’s a clear example of how we can drive impact through unity and shared purpose,” she stated.
RIPE Camargo, drawing on his experience with similar health initiatives in Brazil, praised the clinic as a model of sustainable development. “Rotary is not about words—it is about works. And with works like this, we take on the responsibility of ensuring continued service and innovation,” he said. He encouraged the local club to leverage Rotary’s global network to enhance services and introduce new healthcare technologies.
The Berekuso Clinic replaces a decades-old facility that had long struggled with limited resources and infrastructure. The new building features modern medical equipment, upgraded service areas, and plans for staff training and outreach programmes to ensure long-term viability.
As residents celebrated the long-awaited upgrade, Rtn. Wilson reaffirmed Rotary’s enduring commitment to service. “Let this clinic not just be seen as a structure, but as a living promise—a call to dream bigger and serve even more boldly,” he said.
The commissioning marks a milestone in Rotary’s broader mission to strengthen health systems across underserved communities in Ghana and beyond.
