Royal Ladies Donate GHS 100,000 and Medical Supplies to Korle Bu Pediatric Oncology Unit, Emphasizing Compassion in 30th Anniversary Celebration
The Royal Ladies of Royalhouse Chapel International, led by Rev. Mrs. Rita Korankye Ankrah, have marked their 30th anniversary by extending substantial support to pediatric cancer patients at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital’s Childhood Oncology Unit. Rev. Mrs. Korankye Ankrah highlighted that without uplifting young cancer patients, their anniversary celebration would lack true meaning and impact.
This sentiment was shared during a recent event where the Royal Ladies donated a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 100,000) and a variety of medical supplies to the Oncology Unit. The items donated included beds, mattresses, wheelchairs, gowns, methylated alcohol, and children’s Bibles. In addition, the team brought food, water, and drinks to share with patients and staff in the unit. This donation forms part of a series of charitable activities that the ladies’ group has organized to mark three decades of service within the church.
Rev. Mrs. Korankye Ankrah emphasized that, as mothers, the Royal Ladies cannot fully celebrate while knowing that children are suffering from cancer, through no fault of their own. She stressed that these young patients should not face their struggles alone, assuring the hospital that this donation is only the beginning of their support and that the church is committed to providing further assistance in the future.
Dr. Frank Owusu-Sekyere, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Oncology Unit and the hospital for the generous gifts from the Royal Ladies Foundation. Dr. Owusu-Sekyere conveyed appreciation for the assurance of continued support, underscoring that this contribution would be fully utilized to benefit children battling cancer and other related health conditions. He praised the Royal Ladies for their compassion and commitment, noting that such support plays a crucial role in ensuring that underprivileged patients receive adequate treatment and care.
