His thirst for knowledge led him to acquire a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health from Merlin/IHE London, a Diploma and MSc in Cardiology from Imperial College London, and advanced training in Heart Failure from the University of Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre. Multilingual and globally oriented, he also earned language certifications in German and French, allowing him to engage with diverse clinical and academic communities.
Redefining Cardiology: Dr. Tanko’s Impact at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital: Clinically, Dr. Tanko is a leader in managing complex cardiovascular conditions, with research interests that include atrial fibrillation, bacterial endocarditis in drug users, cardiac manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis, and the effects of sympathetic nerve stimulation on the heart. His contributions to cardiology have been reinforced by his active participation in major congresses of the European Society of Cardiology, where he continuously updates his expertise to match global standards.
