The newly appointed Volta Regional Director of Health Service, Dr. Emmanuel Atsu Dodor, has held his maiden engagement with District and Municipal Directors of Health Service as well as Medical Superintendents across the region. This follows his assumption of office after the recent nationwide reassignment of Regional Directors by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The meeting, which took place earlier this week, formed part of Dr. Dodor’s efforts to familiarize himself with key stakeholders in the region’s health sector and to gain firsthand insight into operational challenges and priorities on the ground.

During the engagement, the region's performance for the first quarter of 2025 was reviewed. The session served as a platform to identify areas requiring urgent attention and to strategize on improving underperforming health indicators before the close of the year.

In his remarks, Dr. Dodor emphasized the need for all managers to align with key GHS policies and ensure their effective implementation. He called for immediate action on performance gaps highlighted in the quarterly review, urging health managers to prioritize quality service delivery across all facilities.

Additionally, Dr. Dodor announced the reactivation of the peer review exercise in the region, encouraging health managers to prepare and actively participate in the initiative aimed at enhancing accountability and continuous improvement.

The engagement was described as successful, setting a strong tone for collaborative leadership as the new Regional Director begins his tenure in earnest.
